About me

My name is Esmé, I’m 45 and I live in South-East London with my husband, Doug.

I spent 13 years working at the European Union, mainly as a translator, but also did a three year stint in disaster relief!

In 2012-13, I retrained as a web designer/developer at Birkbeck College in London. I gained a merit overall and a distinction in my final project, which was a website for the annual Big Lunch event on our street (www.esmedobson.co.uk/bellendenbiglunch).

Here’s me on graduation day with husband Doug and fellow web design student, Endre:

Birkbeck graduation

After graduating, I started experimenting with WordPress – see page on Website work. Since December 2013 I have been attending monthly WordPress London (WPLDN) meetups. I also attended the London Wordcamp in November 2013 and the Bournemouth Wordcamp in July 2014.

From September 2014, I will be doing a graphic design course (one day per week) and a Javascript evening class at Morley College in Southwark.
